Amid the challenges of the first COVID lockdown in March 2020, AWPower undertook a significant solar project at the Kenridge Shopping Centre in Cape Town.
We installed 138kW of SolarEdge grid-tied inverters paired with 155.5kWp of solar PV, setting the stage for an impactful journey toward sustainable energy for this shopping centre.
The system was configured to export excess generated electricity to the grid, and we are pleased to report on the performance over a period of approximately 3.6 years.

Performance Highlights since March 2020
- The system’s reliability and efficiency have been consistent since its go-live date.
- The payback period of similar solar installations has significantly reduced, making them more financially viable. If installed in January 2024, a comparable system could achieve a payback close to 3.5 years.
