Organic Zone in Lakeside, Cape Town, famous for its quality fresh organic products, appointed AWPower engineers to design a solar system that would always keep their fruit, vegetables and other delicious food in top condition. Since installing the solar PV system, Organic Zone has been able to cut their electricity bill by about 80%.
Organic Zone’s main requirements for going solar, were:
- To beat loadshedding, ensuring the availability of power that will enable the business to operate normally during all business times with all its equipment like fridges, freezers, ovens for pastries, coffee machines and air conditioning.
- The solar system should protect the business’ investment in perishable stock by keeping the fridges, freezers and air conditioning running 24/7.
- To reduce the high cost of grid-supplied electricity, as the store with all the equipment consumes between 600kWh to 700kWh of electricity per day.
Here’s what we have installed
To meet the energy demands of Organic Zone, AWPower designed and installed a robust, modular solar system featuring:
- 3 x 30kW FoxESS inverters connected in parallel, delivering up to 90kW of power
- 90kWh of FoxESS lithium battery storage for reliable backup
- 80kWp solar PV array to maximise energy generation
